Causes of Hair Loss
AYURVEDA  PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
In the Khalitya or Alopecia all the three dosha are involved in a different role. The vata and pitta are vitiated and deranged and affecting the hair follicle ( Romakupa) , it blocks the hair root and caused the gradual hair fall. When Kapha starts filling the roots of hairs , it prevent the fresh growth of hairs. This leads to baldness or Alopecia.
According to the Ayurveda dietary regime and faulty life style ( Ahara and Vihara ) which aggravates the vata and Pitta (Primary) becomes the causative factor for the hair loss or Khalitya. The kapha along with Rakta dhatu fill the romakupa to cause the baldness.
According to the Ayurveda hairs are considered as the byproduct of the bone formation. The tissues responsible for building bones are also responsible for the growth of the hairs. The early hair loss is related to body type and the balance of the mind body constitution (Doshas) and those who have excess pitta in their system are likely to be lose hair early in the life , they may have premature thinning or grey hairs. Excess of pitta in the sebaceous gland at the root of the hairs or hair follicles may make the person start losing hairs.
Poor circulation to the scalp is amongst the main factors contributing to the hair loss. The traction, trauma, poor diet, stress are the other factors which aggravates the condition. These conditions cause reduced blood flow to the head and preventing the nutrients and essential elements to reach the hairs follicles. The capillaries which feed the hair root are very small and it’s very easy for the blood supply to pinch off. So the proper nourishment doesn’t reach to the hairs and hair fall starts.  So the proper circulation is needed for the nourishment of the hairs.
