Papular Urticaria

Insects bite and the associated hypersenstivity reactions is known as papular urticaria. It is more common in children than in adults. Unfortunately the children that affected by this are usually misdiagnosed and they underwent unnecessary investigations.
It is not a true urticaria in which temperory wheals are made and they resolves within hours. Rather the papular urticaria are the bumps of red colour around .2 to 2 cm in diameter that appears during summer and rainy season. Sometimes the spots gets infected with fluid and pus are filled within sac.
They are mostly on the legs , forarms , face , neck i.e. on the uncovered areas of the body. The spots remains there for few days to few weeks and may leave the persistent marks or scars , especially if they have been scrached deeply.
The diagnosis of Papular Urticaria is based on clinical evaluation SCRATCH
S – Symmetric distribution
C- Clusters or Crops of differing appearance
R – Lack of a Pet/Rover
A – Specific age from 2 to 10 years.
T – Target appearance and prolonged time to resolution – weeks to months.
C – Confused Parents and Doctor
H – Household with only a single member affected.

AYURVEDIC  TREATMENT  FOR  PAPULAR  URTICARIA
Herbal creams containing ayurvedic antiseptics and lubricants are used locally to cover the infection and disease progression.
Wash the affected area with antiseptic herbs decotion.
Oral herbal and ayurvedic medicines in the form of Capsules , Syrups and Tablets are used for 2 to 4 weeks  , according to the disease.
After the problem gets solved the Herbal oil should be used for few weeks to protect from the disease and it also helps to reduce  the scars of the lesions.
Herbal oil may be used as a percaution in the children who are more suceptiable for papular urticaria.
